Asana Lab: Twists + Forward Folds
Learn Anatomy and Alignment Techniques for Pose Family of Twists and Forward Folds
Examine the anatomy & kinesiology for the asana families of twists and forward folds. We’ll establish anatomical maps for twists and forward folds by discussion, demonstration and practice to improve cueing and sequencing techniques. During group practice the lead trainer will offer gentle hands-on assists for participants to objectively experience alignment in our pose families. From a Hatha Yoga perspective, each group of postures has its own energetic, heating vs. cooling (sun/moon) effect on our nervous system. By accounting for the sun/moon qualities of twists and forward folds we can design harmonizing asana sequences to balance the subtle body and promote wellness. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: -To identify key anatomical maps for each pose family to improve pose efficacy -Cue more confidently and effectively by deepening your understanding of anatomy and kinesiology -How to optimize kinetic chains for healthy alignment -Identify movement dysfunction for safe practice and utilize modifications and props for greater accessibility. -How to use asanas as part of an integrative practice for wellness and healing. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Anyone who wants to deepen their asana practice. Additionally, our Yoga Alliance registered workshop is great for RYTs to earn CE hours to maintain their registration with the YA. Attend in-person or online. A Zoom link will be emailed upon registration.
